Hi I'm Serafin Sanchez. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, educator, composer and music producer based in Colorado. I'm a creative individual that performs a wide range of jobs within the context of music, media and performing arts. I'm inspired by a wide range of sounds, sites and experiences. Ultimately I'm interested in growing my human and artistic potential to its fullest. Thank you for stopping by my website.
I started playing piano and age 5 and the saxophone at age 9. At an early age I was often surrounded by opportunities to make music. I took private instrument and voice lessons, played in marching bands, jazz bands, rock bands, kazoo bands, choirs and musical theater. Making music became an everyday activity for me. Following high school, I chose to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder where I graded with a Bachelors degree in Saxophone Performance and later a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy.
I've been fortunate to perform with some great musicians in venues around the world. Artists I've shared the stage with include: Ziggy Marleey, Natalie Cole, Devotchka, The Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Big Gigantic, Issac Slade and Joe King from The Fray, Flobots, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, James Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Wheeler, Arturo Sandoval, Brad Goode, Bob Mintzer, Poncho Sanchez, Ron Miles, Matt Morris, The Motet, USAF Falconaires.
I'm a freelance composer, producer and instrumentalist. My music has been used by MTV, Oxygen, Altitude television networks and Ford Motor Company. Always interested in collaborating on new music with inspiring singers, rappers, musicians and sound designers. Reach ou!
I'm passionate about helping people of all ages, abilities and musical tastes find their creative path with music. I taught music production and songwriting using Ableton Live with an organization called Youth On Record (formerly Flobots.org) for several years. I've also been a saxophone instructor at schools and music camps around the country including Regis University, Music For All, Birch Creek and The Art Institute of Colorado in the audio production department. There I taught courses on music theory, critical listening, digital audio, synthesis, sound design, and music production and planning.
Ableton Live has been part of my creative process on stage and in the studio since around 2005. In 2014 I became an Ableton Certified Trainer. Since 2016, I've been employed by Ableton full time as the Central West Brand Manager. There I oversee all of Ableton's educational, community and retail relationships in that region and work with an incredible team of people.
